Group B refers to a set of rules and regulations the FIA set for racecars, but most fans closely associate it with rally cars. Having few restrictions on technology, design and the number of cars required for homologation to compete (only 200) made for some of the most extreme rally cars. Weight was kept as low as possible, high-tech materials were permitted, and there were no restrictions on boost, which turned out to mean almost unlimited power. Ultimately Group B would only last from 1982-1986 because the ever growing horsepower of these monsters became too dangerous to the drivers that tried to tame them.
